About
Robert Land, PsyD
I listen, act, and help you transform. I’ve spent 30 years working in a wide range of settings around the Bay Area, including outpatient therapy clinics, crisis teams, juvenile halls and wraparound service providers. Along the way, I’ve found I most enjoy working with people both as individuals and in relationships, including families and couples, with a special focus on men, boys, teens and young adults. Men are sometimes uncomfortable going to therapy, and I do all I can from my own male perspective to make it a rewarding experience. For kids and teens, this turbulent stage of life is hard on everyone in the family, and helping a young person resolve difficult issues can make a real difference in everyone’s success and happiness.
A word about trauma: it can steal your happiness. Clinicians talk about “big T” and “little t” traumas, and even a “minor” experience, like feeling insecure about yourself, can shape how you see the world. I use EMDR and polyvagal-informed approaches to help process these experiences, and I train clients in emotional resilience so they can manage the feelings that come up along the way. I have specific expertise in helping people heal from complex trauma.
People come to me for many reasons: depression, anxiety, feeling stuck, repeating the same relationship mistakes, family conflict, or a specific crisis. Most want to live a happier, more successful life, as they define it. Whatever brings you here, I’m your partner and your advocate.
